How to Clarify Your Ideal Position

Your most important priority in reclaiming your career is clarifying exactly what you want. Taking the time to define your ideal industry, company or organization, and position is absolutely essential and will determine every step in your job search.  

Here’s where you need to shift:

Instead of focusing on what you are running away from in your current role, you need to focus on what you are running towards in your future role.

• What kinds of projects would you like to work on?

• What industry would you like to work in?

• Describe your ideal company or organization.

• What factors are extremely important for you in your next job- both in terms of what you want and do NOT want (ex. location, salary, benefits, responsibilities, culture, etc.)?
